Alexa Rango, a proud Hoosac alumni, brings a wealth of athletic and academic experience to her role as Sport Psychology Consultant. A native of Hopewell Junction, NY, Ms. Rango was a key member of Hoosac’s inaugural girls ice hockey team in 2016. Following her graduation in 2018, she pursued her undergraduate studies at Wilkes University.
A standout student-athlete, Ms. Rango earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with minors in Criminology, Sociology, and Sport Psychology while competing on both the NCAA Division III women’s ice hockey and lacrosse teams. Her dedication to academic excellence is evidenced by her membership in the Psychology National Honor Society (Psi Chi) and her graduation from the Wilkes University Honors Program. On the ice, Ms. Rango excelled, garnering multiple MAC Women’s Ice Hockey Defensive Player of the Week and UCHC Player of the Week honors. She was also a consistent member of the UCHC All-Academic team.
Driven by a passion for understanding the athlete’s mind, Ms. Rango continued her education at Florida State University, earning a Master of Science in Sport Psychology. During her graduate studies, she gained invaluable experience working with athletes at all levels, from youth to NCAA Division I, as a mental performance consultant.
Returning to her alma mater, Ms. Rango is excited to support Hoosac’s student-athletes in achieving their full potential. She is currently working towards her Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) certification through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). In addition to her role as Sport Psychology Consultant, Ms. Rango will teach Introduction to Psychology and Neuroscience.
