AP Language & Composition to Attend 'Writers Reading Winter' Through Bennington College
January 7th, 2021
We are pleased to announce that Mrs. McLenithan’s AP Language and Composition class will have the opportunity to attend the 'Writers Reading Winter' series during January! Critically acclaimed, award-winning authors and faculty of the Bennington College Writing Seminars will offer an evening reading series during the MFA program's winter residency. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to hear notable authors speak about their craft. Our first opportunity will happen tonight as we attend Jill McCarkel’s and Mark Wunderlich’s on-line seminar.
Hoosac School's partnership with Bennington College is another example of the exemplary academic opportunities that Hoosac School provides our students.
Next Thursday, January 14th Hoosac students will attend David Gates' and Alice Mattison’s on-line seminar.
David Gates was for many years a staff writer for Newsweek. He has won the Guggenheim fellowship, and his books have been finalists for the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Critics’ Circle Award.
Alice Mattison’s most recent novel is Conscience. The Kite and the String: How to Write with Spontaneity and Control—and Live to Tell the Tale, is now available in paperback. Several of her previous novels and story collections have been New York Times Notable Books or Editors’ Choices.
The students voted and selected the Writer Readings which were chosen. These events will allow our learners to improve their own writing skills as there will be assignments based on these events.
