Originally from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, Mac completed her undergraduate degree with a double major in Theater and Philosophy at Union College in Schenectady, NY. While at Union, Mac was a starter for the Women's Division I ice hockey program her senior year. Prior to Union, Mac was an Assistant Captain for her high school team, the Warner Warriors. In her senior season, Mac helped lead the Warriors to a Junior Women's Hockey League (JWHL) championship title, finishing first in their league. She was also a member of the Team Alberta U18 team for two consecutive years, competing for a National title in both Ontario and British Columbia.
