Hoosac Owlcasters Sort Fact From Fiction

April 14th, 2021

Hoosac School students taking Podcasting and Audio Production had an opportunity to use primary resources made available through the Hoosick Township Historical Society in their research into LeGrand Tibbits this term.

LeGrand was the brother of Rev. Edward Dudley Tibbits, Hoosac’s founder. For years, rumors and ghost stories have circulated about the lesser known brother, who has long been a source of intrigue for campus residents. The historical society loaned decades worth of materials, including newspapers and other publications, to Hoosac so the students would have access to primary and secondary sources related to LeGrand.

Students interviewed current faculty of the school to trace the source or sources of the rumors about the illusive Tibbits, and located old family ledgers, bibles, photographs, and documents related to military and political affiliations in their quest for the truth.

Listen to the next Owlcast, available through the Hoosac School website and on Spotify, to hear what they uncovered.
