Lucy Beal '22 Skates Across the Pond with Olympic Dreams
October 22nd, 2021
Hoosac School has a long history of extraordinary athletes who graduate and go on to do great things, but this year we have an exceptional young lady who is making things happen right now. Hoosac School’s very own Lucy Beal ‘22 is not only on the Hoosac Girls Hockey Team but also a member of Great Britain’s Women’s National Hockey Team. As such, she had to take a break mid-term to travel home and represent her home country on the ice on the world stage.
Lucy competed in a series of games at the Olympic Qualifier in Great Britain from October 7th through the 11th. The tournament included Iceland, Korea, Slovakia, and the host, Great Britain. During Lucy’s first game, she was selected as Player of the Game. Against Iceland, she played strong in the defensive and offensive zones. That game ended with a 5-0 win. In her second game, the team faced off against Slovenia, with Lucy scoring her team's only goal.
Great Britain finished with a big win against Korea with GB’s goalie having a shut out and winning by one point. Lucy Beal was selected as one of Great Britain’s team's top three players. Lucy is an overall extremely valuable player who not only acts as an amazing teammate on the ice, but off as well. Great Britain and Hoosac are very fortunate to have her representing their teams.
