Girls Varsity Soccer Wins First Championship in School History

November 15th, 2021

For the first time in school history, the Hoosac Girls Varsity Soccer team has been crowned HVAL Champions! Heading into the championship bout against Storm King, the Owls were heavily favored, having gone undefeated in league play. The two teams met earlier in the season with Hoosac defeating Storm King 6-1 on the road.

This time, the two squads would face off on Hoosac's pitch, and the conditions for the championship match were less than ideal. As the rain started to pour, so did the goals for the Owls, as Catherine Kennedy '23 found the back of the net twice. Hannah Johnson '22 added a goal of her own.

In net, Bella Holman '26 turned away all 9 shots she faced. It was her 4th shutout of the year.

It was an amazing end to a historic season for the Hoosac Girls Varsity Soccer team. The championship victory also marked Athletic Director Mike Ryan's first championship as a Head Coach.
