Pre-Med & Life Ahead

March 17th, 2021

Hoosac Senior Prefect Sofia Gurgel '21 has been accepted to a multitude of colleges and looks forward to the next stage of her academic and athletic career. Her time at Hoosac has been busy for sure. As a top scholar, student leader, and varsity athlete, she embodies what it means to be a well-rounded student. Her passion for learning, undoubtedly a trait instilled in her by her parents, both doctors, has helped her chart a path of success that has begun at Hoosac and will continue at whichever college is fortunate enough to have her enroll.

Hoosac Tennis Coach Ricardo Canto Pereira said of Sofia: “When I met Sofia and her parents, I told them that, studying at Hoosac School, Sofia will have a chance for great academic and athletic success. With hard work and resilience, there were more opportunities for her here than in Brazil. She came here, worked really hard academically and athletically and reached her goals. But, besides that, I was really happy that she understood how to live in a community where she quickly became a Senior Prefect, Student of the Week, tennis captain, and member of the National Honor Society.”
